Tom Dixon, a self-taught British designer, was born in Tunisia from a French mother and a British father. After having been educated in Holland Park School, he began working for the industrial chain Finnish Artek. He then discovers his taste for art design with welding repairing motorcycle frames damaged. He then begins to create furniture and started to become known as one of its chairs, the “S- Chair“, is signed by the Italian Giulio Cappellini.
In 1989, he manages a studio to batch -produce metal furniture placement and to execute and retail design projects. For years later, he opens his own shop on All Saints Road, Notting Hill and then co- founds Eurolounge as a company to manufacture plastic products including his own Jack Light. Then he specialized in studies of the design and gets a Honorary Doctorate from Birmingham City University and was awarded an OBE for services to British Design in 2000. Two years later, he founds his own design and manufacturing company of lighting and furniture, setting mission to boost innovation in the Bristish furniture industry sector, releasing a new collection for this year and in 60 different countries.

Tom Dixon becomes also the creative director of Habitat and Develops a movable machine to make Fresh Fat Plastic products, launching the Mirror light encased in a highly reflective glass spheres. In 2004, he’s appointed creative director of Artek , the Finnish furniture manufacturer founded by Alvar Aalto and designs the Wire series of furniture , recycled Ecoware collection of dinnerware and the Rubber Band Chair. In 2009, he exhibits his Super Contemporary collection , in the Design Museum London.
Tom Dixon is now creative Director of 100 % Design and also runs the Design Research Studio, all which specialized in interior design schemes and projects.
